Determined Promise 2004 Determined Promise 2004
Determined Promise 2004 was a multi-level major exercise for the Department of Defense's newest combatant command, Northern Command. It tested NORTHCOM's ability to respond to multiple, simultaneous homeland defense and federal relief events. DP-04 was designed around events in California and Virginia. CAW developed and planned the California portion of the exercise.

Solid Curtain 2004 Solid Curtain 2004
Solid Curtain is an annual anti-terrorism/force protection training exercise for US Navy Regions and shore installations. Conducted by the Center for Asymmetric Warfare on behalf of US Fleet Forces Command, the exercise involved Navy Regions nationwide in intelligence play and culminated in live scenarios at selected naval installations.

Asymmetric Warfare Iniative 2003 Asymmetric Warfare Initiative 2003
AWI-03 was a multi-phase Homeland Security (HLS) exercise that examined all aspects of a maritime/littoral asymmetric attack. An intelligence buildup and table-top exercises culminated in a two-day live exercise involving federal, state, and local agencies. CAW planned and conducted the exercise, the first multi-service, multi-agency exercise devoted strictly to countering an asymmetric warfare threat.

Roguex III Roguex III
The CAW conducted ROGUEX III on 26-29 April 2004. The exercise, co-sponsored by Commander Third Fleet and Commander US Coast Guard Pacific Area, included USS JARRETT, USCGC ALERT, and two opposing force ships, the MV ATLS and MV Independence. The exercise scenario involved the threat of terrorists smuggling contraband into West Coast ports using cargo ships and research vessels.

Third Fleet Limited Objective Experiment Zero
Limited Objective Experiment Zero (LOE Zero), conducted in 2000, was a six-day Joint Task effort exercise that involved a mix of live, virtual and constructive players. Commander, Third Fleet led this Joint Task Force experiment, which presented a scenario that included biological and chemical weapons in the hands of a rogue nation.

  Test and Evaluation
Although it focuses on testing and evaluating tactics, techniques and procedures, CAW conducts hardware evaluations as well. Recently we assessed the performance and utility of land-based chemical and biological sensors in a maritime environment.

  Classroom Training
CAW provided classroom training for Southern California First Responders on suicide bombers and radiological devices ("dirty bombs").
